    Default Squaring Colombo Z axis

I just finished flattening the table of my new prt, it is showing signs of the z axis not quite being plumb as there is some "stair stepping" evident in the flattened table surface.
The assembly manual is very light on specifics on how to adjust the squareness the z axis of the colombo spindle...any suggestions?

Ron, have you noticed that some of the good old threads are already buried in the archives - maybe we should take the hint and go into retirement.

A dusty old thread that may help Boyd:

Thanks for the reply guys, but I think I must be missing something obvious because I can't see any provision for adjusting the plumb of the spindle mount short of spacing the carrier with washers which seems a little archaic to me, besides which I only need to adjust it 1/64" or less.
If you could see the way the new Colombos are mounted, there does not seem (to me) to be any way to adjust it.

    Boyd,
it may be archaic but it works!. That's pretty much a standard approach in the machine world. You can buy a pack of assorted "U" shaped plastic or metal shims from most industrial supplies.
